The League of Dresden fall
officers instigated many
exciting activities in the fall.
The year started off with the
Big and Little Sister Party
which was a big success. Other
activities included the annual
Christmas dance and the Dad-
Daughter Dessert. Pictured at
left are the Fall Officers. Left to
Right are Row 1 : Linda
Wagner, Sandi Wagner. Row 2:

The League spring dance, appropriately named
"The Age of Aquarius" blew the student body's
mind with a fantastic new idea; a boutique fashion
show for both guys and girls. The traditional
Mother-Daughter tea was held in May, but with a
new twist; pictures of each girl with her mother.
Pictured, are the Spring officers: Dee Johnson, Tori
Oakley, Connie Pennell, Suanne Yonkie, Ann
Walters, Lori Churchill.

New president, Dee Johnson, hopes to follow in Kris Hovde's
footsteps.

Alice Flake and Doug Ford go wild in the first pep con of the year.

The A.S.B. started things off with a bang this year with a
groovin' Hello Week. Each day of the week various
activities were held. The climax of the week came at the
first dance of the year, when the friendliest boy and girl of
each class were chosen. Other activities of the A.S.B. were
the annual Hope Drive which raised well over a thousand
dollars again this year. The A.S.B. was aided greatly by
their advisor Mr. Wallace. This semester also saw the
beginning of the Ferris Round Table.

One of the many activities of Hello Week was the hilarious three-legged
race.

104

The Spring A.S.B. Officers are from Left: Eric Blomquist. Sandi Wagner. Patty
McGough, Howie King. Not Pictured: Rod Ashley.

The second semester A.S.B. officers were installed
in the traditional double con in February, at which,
Ferris's first Lilac princess, Suzie Harris Wilcox,
socked it to the student body about the early days
at Ferris. This launched the A.S.B. into an active
and hopefully "meaningful" semester, beginning
with the mysterious Merlin show. The Ferris Round
Table gained momentum as the semester
progressed and proved itself as an interesting
experiment.

The Ferris Key Club, a
service organization
sponsored by the Kiwanis,
held many varied activities
throughout the year. The
Car Rally was an exciting
event in the fall. The paper
back book drive was held
to raise money for the Key
Heart Dance. At the dance,
Sharon Dullanty was
chosen the club's Key
Heart.

"Key Heart" lockers allowed students to vote for their favorite candidate previously picked by Key Club
members.

The long awaited Key Heart Dance relieved the girls tension when the winner was announced.

The Music Dept.'s production. "Camelot"

The Ferris High Music
Dept. presents several
programs during the year,
including annual Christ-
mas and Spring Concerts.
In November, they
presented "Camelot". The
vocal arrangements were
directed by Mr. Elmer
Peters, and the orchestra
was directed by Mr. Wayne
Summers.

Performances at Ferris
and around Spokane were
given by these girls, the
Canterbury Belles. One
especially impressive
performance was seen at
the League of Dresden
talent con, a touching
seven minute song from
Fiddler on the Roof.

The Journalism staffs had an interesting year under
the guidance of their new advisor, IVIrs. Barbara
Cozad. Mrs. Cozad was notoriously known for her
sense of humor, and her nimble banjo fingers. The
success of the department can be largely attributed
to her efforts. Seen at left are Mrs. Cozad with Nancy
Schultz, Saxon Chronicles editor, and John Snyder,
Exeter editor, outside the Journalism staff room.

Quill and Scroll is an International Honorary for
students showing outstanding talents in the
journalism field. The Ferris chapter was named for
Spokane journalist, Mrs. Dorothy Powers, who was
honored along with new members, at a reception
given by Mr. and Mrs. Cozad, in the fall.

The Junior Talent Con this year was the best Junior Con
ever. It featured all Junior talent. Some highlights of the
show included: Vaughn and Aker, a folk-rock duo; Joan
Westover and Rhonda Hawkins, each with a vocal solo; a
girls' football team; Adam's Burlesque, a dance line; and
another dance line, the Soul Sisters.

HERE IT IS ANOTHER JUNE

But there was never one like this for you,
the members of the class of 70.

You stand on the first of many pinnacles
that will be coming in sight. No need to
look back, that trail has been climbed.

Look at the horizon, those peaks are
equally attainable.

May you travel among friends.
